On January 7, 2012, Best Futures began operating the concession stand at Centennial Ice Arena, part of the Park District of Highland Park. The Best Futures Cafe employs a staff of more than 22 teens and adults with special needs who are serving up delicious food, snacks and drinks to the community.

 

Best Futures, Inc., is an Illinois not-for-profit organization whose mission is to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to move forward: living, working and contributing in the community. Best Futures strives to create pattern-breaking change and to highlight the capability of people who are differently-abled.

 

The first initiative of Best Futures, Inc., is the Best Futures Cafe at Centennial Ice Arena: a community-centered competitive employment venue for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Cafe is a social enterprise that is providing paid work experience to over twenty-two individuals, while offering the community a wide variety of snacks and beverages.
